Pearson is the provider of the Versant Aviation English Test. Before being acquired by Pearson, Ordinate Corporation co-developed the Versant Aviation English Test with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), to certify that pilots and air traffic controllers meet the language requirements set forth by International Civil Aeronautics Organization (ICAO). Flight Research Associates participated as part of the Versant Aviation English Test development project in providing subject matter experts, international pilots and controllers to conduct the voice recordings for the test as well as recruited hundreds of sample test takers worldwide to assist in the development.The Versant tests are the first to leverage a completely automated method for testing spoken language and are the result of years of research in speech recognition, statistical modeling, linguistics, and testing theory. Over the last 11 years, more than 50 million test questions have been delivered, responded to, and automatically scored for individuals from over 100 countries around the world. The patented speech testing technologies are applied to its Versant language tests and customized tests.The Versant Aviation English Test is packaged as part of the FRA Aviation English training solution. We offer both the Versant Aviation English Certification Test and the Versant Aviation English Practice Placer Test. The test has many advantages over other tests on the market. It is inexpensive.
